Outdoor Recreation
Weather permitting, enjoy a game of volleyball, soccer, frisbee, croquet, horseshoes, or a round of corn hole. If you brought your own mountain bike, take the 1.2-mile ride around tranquil Rockwell Lake or go out a little further and enjoy our roughly 10 miles of trails. Bike rack provided in front of Lodge.

Skiing (Cross-Country)
In season, feel free to bring your own skis and snowshoes and enjoy the trails. We do provide complimentary snowshoes to guests on a first come, first served basis.
Swimming/Boating in Rockwell Lake
You may swim at your own risk as no lifeguard is on duty; life jackets are available.
An adult must accompany children under the age of 14.
No outside boats, gas or electric motors, or other watercraft are allowed in Rockwell Lake.
Use of boats is restricted to those designated for use in Rockwell Lake only:
- 2 canoes
- 2 paddle boards
- 5 fishing boats with trolling motors
- 6 kayaks
Fishing
As a biological station used primarily for research purposes, guests are asked to practice “catch-and-release” with barbless hooks. Just bring your valid Michigan fishing license, or purchase one nearby in the town of Luther. Only watercraft provided by the Lodge is permitted on the lake.
